What do you do and how did you end up doing it? I’m a photographer, I have always taken pictures, bit of a serial documenter… can get kind of annoying.
What are you working on at the moment? “The Alternative Portrait Project”, a portrait series featuring real people playing out their real lives… with more or less imagination thrown in.
What makes you happy? Sounding convincing and awake when I’ve actually been jolted up by the phone at noon.
What gets you out of bed in the morning? My children jumping on my bed at 7am. Failing that, the phone at noon.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be? On top of a boulangerie overlooking the sea.
What’s your favourite place in Paris? La Place des Vosges
What annoys you? The fact I can’t spell in French.
What inspires you? Anything from the extraordinary positions my dog finds his sleep in to a good art exhibition.
What is your current obsession? Understanding humour, breaking it down, looking at it from every angle so I can use it in as many shapes and forms to amuse and entertain my audience.
What would you eat for your last meal? It would be more of a tapas affair, with French saucisson and a good camembert, some jamon de jabugo, salt and vinegar crisps… I quite feel like my last meal right now!
What makes you laugh? Anything that doesn’t conform to what’s socially expected.
What are you the most proud of? My two incredible children, Gaspar and Felix. From a work perspective, the success of my Alternative Portrait project; It is hugely rewarding to see something so personal receive such acclaim.
What can we expect from you next? An exhibition in Europe, celebrity shots, all in for 2012!
What is the most exciting thing that has happened to you? Being pregnant and giving birth.
Who are your favorite artists/designers at the moment? Erwin Olaf, James Turrell, Alexander McQueen, Stanley Kubrick, Tim Walker, Edvard Munch, and always and forever: Egon Schiele.
What’s on your bedside table? A lamp, a book (7 Steps to the Perfect Puppy), a kinder surprise toy in pieces and a stack of DVD’s.
How would you describe your personal style? Bold and engaging
What is your personal hideout place/ inspiration location? My step-father’s house in Bourgogne where I have photographed many friends and where there is nothing to do other than be inspired… and drink.
What do you never leave the house without? My camera, you guessed it!
If you were an animal what you would you be and why? Can’t say I have any inclination to growing fins or wings… quite the happy homo sapiens!
