Kristjana Williams – Interview

Today we catch up with artist and illustrator Kristjana Williams, whose beautiful pieces can be found at Liberty of London amongst other places.

What do you do and how did you end up doing it? I’m an artist and illustrator – working through a journey of Beyond the Valley (I’ve been a creative director for the last 10 years working with new talent in art, design, fashion.)

What are you working on at the moment?  So many things! I am working towards the Paul Smith Exhibition which will be on from Sep – Oct 2012, the London Design Festival with Outline Editions & Shapero: ‘Anachroquarianism’  which is on in September. An upcoming collaboration with heritage globe maker, the Affordable Art Fair Hampstead London Nov 1st-4th 2012. And I’m always working on new art work…

I’ve also just finished working on Zubrowka Vodka ‘new visual identity’ commissioned by Purple Creative and doing the Art Direction for the Wilderness Festival 2012.

Design: recently bought Michael Graves Alessi kettle and it brings me happiness

What makes you happy? My children Eidar & Isol and my work.

What gets you out of bed in the morning? Eidar, Isol and my work.

Perfect holiday destination? Norway or Vietnam.

What’s your favourite London hangout? Kew gardens, Liberty of London & Barnes Wetland Centre.

What annoys you? My temper.

What inspires you? Nature.

What do you always have in your fridge? Milk.

What are your current obsessions? Globes

What would you eat for your last meal? Pork, salmon and pees.

What makes you laugh? I have a bad habit of laughing at my own jokes…

What is the most exciting thing that has happened to you? Well currently, it is the globe collaboration.

What’s on your bedside table? Books and my iPad.

What do you talk about with your hairdresser? How I really need a haircut.

What is the last exhibition you went to?  Pick Me Up at Somerset House.

What can we find in your handbag? In my purple fjalaraven there is monumental amount of - pens, papers, sketches, magazines, lipstick, liquorice, portable scanner, iPad.

Would you like to go to space one day?  No.
