TAGGED AS A/W 2000, Design, Fashion, Hussein Chalayan, S/S 2007, Technology, Transformation
I’ve wanted to write a post about Hussein Chalayan for some time now and today I have finally gotten around to it. I’ve had the pleasure of going to one of his shows before in London and I went to his exhibition at the Design Museum at least 3 times. His work is always completely innovative and he makes the line between fashion, art, design, architecture and technology disappear. Chalayan who was born in Cyprus and is an internationally regarded fashion designer renowned for his innovative use of materials, meticulous pattern cutting and progressive attitude to new technology.
Here are 3 collections of his work that are amongst my favorite. In the first video which is from A/W 2000 he transforms the furniture in the room into clothing – watching it feels like you are watching a clip from a theatre performance. In the second and third video his use of technology and fashion is over-powering. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have numerous times.
